Institution of Caste means exclusivness of a social entity. Origin & Practice of caste system is quite obvious as much as it can be seen & perceived. Most of the caste entityes are directly linked with one's occupation. It is also apperent that it is out come of our old system of 'Warn'.
Through the ages in the past, it has rendered it services to the society.
As we can easily guess, at the enception of civilization, it was very difficult to manage the affairs of the society. Our wise ensesters divided the affairs of society in term of duties performed by the individual. A certain group was assigned with task of learning & teaching was known as Brahmins. Rolling class assigned with the duty of protecting the state was known as Khastriyas.
Trade,commerce & Agriculture were assigned to Vaishya & misllaneous services were rendered by Shudra. The division of labour of this sort has not only helped in better management but also ensured employment to all the sections of society. Members of a family were certain about their types of jobs and their skills got polished from generation to generation.
There is miscoonception that cast system devides the society but I want to make it clear with few practical examples whereby cast system binds the people together. The most glaring example is aggarwal community. They run innumerable cheritable institutions, hospitals, community kitchens and service centers, not only for the benefits of aggarwals and other communities also. Another example is that in democracy various cast groups also serve as pressure groups and they offer unifile struggle for their welfare and for securing social justice. A single rope is never need of a single fibre, different threads of fibre join together to give strength to th rope.
There are general blames like untouchability, Honour killing ,reservation discord , restriction of choice of proffesion often linked with caste system. I would like to clear it that these problems are proversed and distorted form of system and not failure of this system. It is we who is to be blamed for these proversion and distortion not system. During vedic period these evils were not heard of. During mediveal period ther errupted as any other menance and got wershand by colonial rulers who had a policy " To Divide And Rule". As far as honour killing is concerned caste system is not to be blamed for. Pakistan is aN Islamik country with no caste Entities but top in honpur killing.
Today we are quite free to choose our proffesion as per our capacity and academic quallifications. Caste comes no where.
Untouchability has been evolished by contitution given equality to all the citizens . It is time to learned from the past mistakes.
